Kilkenny has selected its next representative for the International Rose of Tralee.
Threecastles woman Rachel Walsh was declared the victor at last night’s ceremony held at the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel – taking the crown and title from Lisa O’Rourke.
Here’s the moment it was announced.:
The 23-year-old student of Public Relations and Media, who was sponsored by Walsh School Furniture, says she’s “incredibly passionate about storytelling, creativity, and connecting people through meaningful communication. I love bringing ideas to life, whether through digital campaigns, content creation, or community projects”.
She adds; “Growing up in Kilkenny, I’ve developed a strong appreciation for local culture, creativity, and the power of community spirit. Outside of my studies, I enjoy staying active, exploring new trends, and expressing myself through design and media. I’m so proud of where I come from and excited for what’s ahead!”
Rachel will continue in the role for the next two years and her quest is now officially underway to follow in the footsteps of fellow county star, Ballyouskil native Katelyn Cummins who came through the Laois heat of the global competition to win outright last year.
