“If it only prevents one accident it will be worth it,” are the words of Rathvilly Fine Gael Councillor Brian O’Donoghue.
A new project in the Carlow village is aimed at encouraging people to wear high-visibility clothing while out walking or cycling.
The new road safety initiative has been launched in Rathvilly to encourage more people to wear high-visibility clothing while walking.
Special units stocked with hi-viz vests have been installed in the village, allowing people to borrow one if they forget to bring their own.
Local councillor Brian O’Donoghue says the idea came from the Community Alert group and hopes the project will help prevent accidents on local roads.
