Respite services still “no further along” say Carlow parents

Respite services in Carlow are no further along now than they were almost 6 months ago.

That’s according to local parents who feel they’ve been left in Limbo following the closure of Tír na nÓg in December.

Tír na nÓg was was the only service providing respite for children aged 2-18 until its closure.

The HSE says a mapping exercise for children’s respite services in Carlow/Kilkenny has recently been completed and a plan was sent to families requesting their feedback.

Speaking on KCLR Live this morning, one of the parents, Helen Fahy says they have managed to arrange a meeting with Carlow/Kilkenny Disability Services for next Monday the 9th of May.
