Did you step into 2026 and think, “this is the year we’ll do up the room”? We’ve all been there – the kitchen that needs a lick of paint, the carpet that needs to come out of the bedroom, the floors in the sitting room looking jaded after years of traffic. Maybe you’ve just moved into a new house, you’re on a budget, and you’re looking to make a house a home.
Whatever the case is, we’ve got a brand new competition running on air from Monday 2 February to Friday 6 February, all in association with Tile n Style, and we’re calling it Room Rescue, giving you a chance to ‘rescue’ a room in your house with a prize pack worth up to €5,000.
With thanks to the experts at Tile n Style, you could get the floors upgraded, get that carpet replaced, get the walls freshened up – all with someone to do the work too – and we’ll add in a brand new TV and something comfy to relax in too*.
How does it work?
You need to be registered in advance first and from Monday 2 February to Friday 6 February we’ll be calling back one person each morning just after 9am on KCLR Breakfast for a home-related quiz.
You’ll get 10 questions in 60 seconds, and if you can get seven or more right within the time, we’ll put you in the draw for the overall prize, which will take place live at Tile n Style on Saturday 7 February. Stuck on a question? Pass! But remember, you’ve got to get at least seven right to be in the draw!
Not near the radio? Keep an eye out for KCLR’s promo team around Kilkenny and Carlow before Friday 6 February for another chance to play live, out and about, and get your name in the draw too!
How do I register?
- Text or Whatsapp the word RESCUE, your name and a line about the room you would like to ‘rescue’ to 083 3069696.
- Keep an eye out for the KCLR socials team around Kilkenny or Carlow – they could be stopping you on the street for your chance to register and play on the spot!
Then what happens?
- Once you’re registered, we could be calling you to play the Room Rescue Quiz on air. If it’s your phone ringing around 9.10am Monday 2 February through Friday 6 February, it could be KCLR Breakfast calling you to join the show live. We’ll ask 10 straight-forward home-improvement style questions, and if you get 7 out of 10 right within 60 seconds, you’re in the draw on Saturday – easy as that.
