As part of ongoing efforts to enhance safety, new line markings, ramps, and virtual ramps have recently been completed at three schools in Graignamanagh.
These improvements are specifically designed to boost pedestrian safety in and around school zones.
The new features aim to better guide both drivers and students, making the routes safer for children as they travel to and from school.
Kilkenny County Countil are optimistic that these changes will reduce the risk of accidents and improve traffic flow, especially during busy school hours.
Councillor Brian Cleere spoke to KCLR News about the introduction of the virtual ramps. “He explained that these are markings on the road that simulate the effect of a speed ramp, alerting drivers to slow down without the physical installation of a raised surface”.
“This innovative solution is expected to help reduce speeding while keeping the area more accessible for all road users”. said Cllr. Cleere.
The completion of these safety measures marks an important step forward in improving the safety and well-being of students and local residents alike.
