Secondary schools in Carlow, Kilkenny and around the country could be set to close this autumn if industrial action goes ahead.
The result of a ballot of ASTI members is expected to be released today, with the organisation already saying industrial action is very likely.
The teachers’ union will hold a protest outside the Dáil this evening over pay levels for new teachers.
