Carlow has chosen its representative for this year’s National Enterprise Awards.

Seed Golf, the innovator behind PGA‑tour‑grade golf balls, was named by the county’s Local Enterprise Office (LEO) to go forward to Dublin’s Mansion House in May, at an event which also saw four additional award categories revealed as follows;

Exporting Business Award: Flying Tumbler Irish Whiskey

Presenting the prizes, County Council Cathaoirleach, Cllr Ken Murnane said: “The National Enterprise Awards are a tribute to the dedication, creativity, and resilience shown by local entrepreneurs. The businesses recognised today are not only strengthening Carlow’s economy but contributing to economic growth across the country.”

The Local Authority’s Chief Executive Coilín O’Reilly remarked: “SMEs are the backbone of our local economy—driving employment, innovation, and sustained growth. The National Enterprise Awards shine a light on exceptional businesses that continue to push boundaries. This year’s overall winner reflects the ambition and entrepreneurial spirit that define our county. We are proud to celebrate the talent and determination of all the enterprises recognised today.”

Séamus Doran is organiser of the County Final and Assistant Head of Economic Development & Enterprise at the Local Enterprise Office. He adds; “The National Enterprise Awards offer an invaluable opportunity for businesses to gain national recognition. We are delighted to have Seed Golf represent Carlow this year. The standard of entries was exceptional, showcasing the energy and strength of our local small business community. While not every finalist could win today, many are on a trajectory that will see them become strong contenders in future years.”

Meanwhile, the winners of the Carlow county Student Enterprise Awards will be revealed next Wednesday, 11th March (Kilkenny’s were named yesterday afternoon).
