Seventy new full time jobs could be created at a new hotel being developed in Freshford.
Upper Court Manor was originally built in 1225 and was the palace of a protestant Bishop.
It has served various purposes over the years and was a Methodist fathers boarding school for a time in the 1930s.
Now the new owner is planning to turn it into a 5-star hotel with almost 80 bedrooms.
Local Councillor Michael McCarthy says there will be at least 30 construction jobs over the next year or so and more than double that when it opens next year.
