Curran has also given opportunities to several debutants, showcasing the depth of talent across the county. Rory Maguire (Clonmore), Kyle Nolan and Lee Moore (Éire Óg), Paddy Hickey (Grange), Stephen Scallan (Old Leighlin), Cathal Healy (St. Patrick’s, Tullow), and Stephen Reilly (Palatine) have all earned their first call-ups.
With 13 clubs represented in the squad, KCLR Gaelic Football analyst Willie Quinlan praised Curran’s approach:
“It obviously shows that Shane Curran has looked at a lot of games. We’ve seen him at Netwatch Cullen Park identifying new talent. There’s a good balance of experienced players and fresh faces. Sean Murphy’s return is particularly exciting—he’s a strong, powerful runner and will be a big addition in the middle of the field.”
Quinlan also noted that the team’s recent practice matches have shown promise, especially under the new rules:
“The power and pace they have around the middle of the field seem to suit the new rules, which could work in Carlow’s favor this season.”
Carlow fans will be hoping this revamped squad can make a strong start to the league and build momentum for the season ahead.
