The community of Castlecomer is in shock this morning as news has broken of the death of prominent hotelier Joe Comerford.
Joe was the owner of the Academy Plaza Hotel off O’Connell Street in Dublin and the recently-opened Avalon Hotel in Castlecomer.

It’s understood he died yesterday evening after suffering a heart attack.
His funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
