Sinn Fein is calling for an urgent EU Parliamentary meeting after the decision to allow the Drumcree parade.
Protestors have mostly dispersed after being told there’ll be a ‘fresh’ process to address the dispute.
Thousands of people turned out to try stop the loyalist Orange Order marching down the mainly nationalist Garvaghy Road for the first time in 28 years.
Some members of the Orange Order remain in the area this morning and it’s reported that police blocked an attempt to carry out the parade around 4am.
Ireland South MEP and Kilkenny woman Kathleen Funchion says; “I stand in full solidarity with the residents of Garvaghy Road and I think that we should be meeting as a committee to ensure that we are looking for answers and that also that we make sure that the residents know that we stand in solidarity with them it is absolutely, like just it’s nearly hard to find words for what’s after happening for the disgraceful decision of the parades commission to set us back nearly 30 years”.
