SIPTU members would rather be working today, though industrial action is necessary to get things moving.
That’s according to Colm Kennedy, SIPTU representative for the technical section at Teagasc’s Oak Park research facility in Carlow, where staff are taking part in today’s industrial action.
He says there is a strong turnout on the picket line this morning, with more than 200 staff members expected to take part in today’s strike.
Mr. Kennedy added that union members don’t want to inconvenience the public, acknowledging that that the action has caused disruption. However, he stressed that strike action was a last resort.
