Six areas in Kilkenny being considered as areas to re-home refugees

Six areas in Kilkenny are now being considered as part of the Syrian refugee resettlement programme.
Kilkenny County Council says Piltown, Urlingford, Callan, Rosbercon, Graiguenamanagh and Ferrybank are the places under consideration for the first 18 families.
They say they hope to resettle two to four families in December of this year, and a total of 25 to 30 before the end of next year.
Thomastown, Castlecomer and Kilkenny will be looked at for the last group of families.
In a statement to KCLR, they say the intention is to purchase houses where possible and some houses will also be provided by Approved Voluntary Housing Bodies.
They say they’re also trying to ensure there’ll be as little impact as possible on the existing social housing list, while also honouring their humanitarian commitment.
