A major boost for pharmacy education is coming to the southeast
South East Technological University has unveiled a new strategic plan for its Department of Pharmacy.
The plan will underpin a modern, innovative master’s programme focused on patient care, professionalism and real-world skills, aligned with national accreditation standards.
The university adds the department will prioritise collaboration and research, working with partners to support healthcare and industry needs at regional, national and global level.
Dr Laurence Fitzhenry, Head (Waterford) of Faculty of Science and Computing said, “I am delighted to welcome the publication of SETU’s Department of Pharmacy Strategic Plan. This new programme, alongside the establishment of the new Department and its strategic goals, will play an important role in preparing future pharmacists and strengthening healthcare capacity across the southeast region.”
Dr Claire Lennon, Head of Department of Pharmacy, said “The Department of Pharmacy’s inaugural strategic plan marks an exciting time for SETU. We look forward to supporting the implementation of the plan over the next five years as we develop pharmacy education for the southeast region. We very much value collaboration with our stakeholders, building relationships, sharing learnings and experiences to inform our current and future programme development and our wider goals as a department. Consultation with regional, national, and international stakeholders has shaped our aims, and we look forward to bringing them to fruition over the coming years.”
