A South Kilkenny Councillor says that he and his colleagues will have to “up the ante” when it comes to the protracted delivery of a 2.2kilometre realignment of the N24 outside Mooncoin.
A deadline for public submissions prior to an oral hearing by An Coimisiún Pleanála regarding the Carrick Road/Mooncoin Safety Scheme has been extended to Monday, the 30th of November.
However, a date for the oral hearing itself has not yet been announced, much to the frustration of Councillor Pat Dunphy.
Speaking to KCLR News’ Dermot Keyes, Cllr Dunphy couldn’t hide his frustration with the ongoing delay in the project noting; “The amount of time it’s taking to sort out this is incredible, it’s delaying everybody and the longer it’s there the chances of a serious accident are always liable on that particular road and those bends on the Carrick Road that’s off it, elderly residents are coming out of their houses there with no vision, no vision, maybe 20metres, and traffic coming in there pretty quick, traffic speeds along there, a lot of lorries passing down there through Mooncoin and yet nothing being done to progress that oral hearing and sort out the issues they should have sorted long ago anyway”.
Stay tuned for more on this, and if you’ve something to add please text/whatsapp straight to studio: 083 306 96 96.
