The speed limit on one of the South Kilkenny’s busiest and deadliest roads is set to drop from next week.
A section of the N25 between Slieverue and Glenmore will see the speed limit change from 100km/hr to 80 from Monday.
It’s after calls from residents and the local safety group following a public meeting in June.
Local Councillor Fidelis Doherty has been campaigning for the change, which she says will save lives.
“It’s about road safety, it’s about keeping people safe and indeed it’s about drivers being mindful too that it’s now 80 kmh and to take heed of it so you know for
the last speed it’s probably a big contributing factor to accidents and instances and unfortunately fatalities”, she said.
