The new Emergency Department at St Lukes hospital is now scheduled to open in late March or early April.
Manager Anne Slattery confirmed this morning on KCLR Live that the project is on track still for a Spring opening date.
She admitted there has been issues with staffing and with the canopy but says that has now been resolved and she expects the facility to open during the last week in March or first week of April.
Meanwhile Anne Slattery also apologised earlier to those who have been left waiting for a bed at the hospital.
She says this winter has been the ‘worst’ she has seen with ‘no let up in the past 3 weeks’.
It follows reports a woman in her 80’s was waiting more than 24 hours in the Medical Assessment Unit for a bed at the hospital.
