St Luke’s staff tell of huge pressure at local Emergency Department

St Luke’s Hospital was said to be at crisis point overnight and into today.

Staff have contacted KCLR to tell of the huge pressure that they are coming under describing how colleagues were in tears last night due to the situation there.

It’s understood that an overflow of patients from the Medical Assessment Unit were on trolleys in an already crowded Emergency Department.

Just last week General Manager of St Luke’s, Ann Slattery, admitted that more nurses are desperately needed as current staff are stretched to the limit.
