St. Patrick’s Festival and Kilkenny Tradfest get underway

Kilkenny is in full festival flow today as the St. Patrick’s Festival and Kilkenny Tradfest get underway.

The four-day St. Patrick’s festivities will see more than 80 events taking place across the city, leading up to Tuesday’s grand parade through the city streets.

Some of today’s events include “The Big Dig” archaeology workshops at Canal Square and sean-nós dancing at Rothe House, while families can head to the Parade Plaza for the festival market and carnival rides.

The festival runs alongside Kilkenny Tradfest, with more than 100 free performances by traditional music artists at venues across the city.
