Story of two Kilkenny men with great history being told tonight

A story about two men, one from Kilkenny city who became the White House door man and the other from Gortnahoe who was President of Maynooth College will be told tonight.

Two historians are to tell the story about the two men from the Renehen family.

Martin was an emigrant from Kilkenny city and worked at the White House and was a friend and advisor to several American presidents.

Laurence Renehen from Gortnahoe was a leading Irish Scholar and became President of Maynooth College in the 1840’s.

The free talk takes place in Butler House in Kilkenny City at 7:30.
