The first day of the 2021 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open is getting underway in Mount Juliet this morning.

Many of the top golfers were playing yesterday with celebrities including DJ Carey, Henry Shefflin and Johnny Sexton and other amateurs in the Pro Am.

And they’ve all been on site since Monday for practice rounds at the spectacular course.

There’s good news on the weather front for the opening day at least.

Alan O’Reilly from www.carlowweather.com says it’ll be a nice hot day today for the start of the four-day tournament with good sunny spells and temperatures reaching up to 24 degrees with just the risk of a shower.

Friday looks good too but he did warn there  could be tricky weather conditions as we approach the closing stages of this year’s competition with a risk of thunderstorms on Sunday.

However he says we might get lucky and escape them.
