Surge in numbers admitted to Ballyragget addiction treatment facility

aiseiri2More than 100 young people have already been admitted to a Kilkenny treatment centre for addictions this year.

Aiseiri typically treats 120 a year at its adolescent centre in Ballyragget but the first 6 months of this year saw 101 admissions – mostly for alcohol.

Today the organisation launches its annual report and its Chief executive Paul Conlon told KCLR news they need the Government to be mindful of these statistics as they prepare Budget 2015.

He says they hope to double their capacity at the detox unit in Ballyragget but will require more funding for that to happen.
