An Taisce has called on Kilkenny county council to remove a new handrail installed on the Butterslip in the city.
In a statement to KCLR news the honorary secretary of the Kilkenny branch Mary Brennan says they are ‘appalled’ at the central rail that has been installed on the slipway describing it as an ‘eyesore’.
The council says its a temporary measure that was necessary for safety reasons.
But An Taisce want it gone and want a commitment that the council will not install such rails in any other medieval slipway in the city.
