‘The Bass Player: Surviving The Miami Showband Massacre’ is the second book authored by Stephen Travers. As the sleeve of his latest work states, “has lived two lives. His first was as a bass player, immersed in music, friendship and the thrill of gigs on the road with the Miami Showband. But on 31 July 1975, that life was shattered on the A1 at Buskhill in County Down when a loyalist gang ambushed the band, murdering three of his friends…The second life led him down unexpected paths: as an author, composer, producer and international speaker on peace and reconciliation.”
Stephen spoke to Dermot Keyes of KCLR News about ‘The Bass Player’, which also features the stories of many survivors of conflict whom he has befriended over the past 50 years.
