We started on a discussion on the impact on the Vacant Sites Levy, specifically its impact on a number of farmers in the Kilkenny City area (although it impacts elsewhere in the two counties. Pat O’Toole of the Farmers Journal, James Murphy of IFA and local farmer Joe Mulhall (who is directly impacted) joined in the discussions. Meetings are in progress with the County Council and Government departments to resolve this issue.
We heard from Martin Ryan, Gain Feed nutritionist with Glanbia who spoke about feed options to alleviate to the current shortages of grass and silage.
