The Farm Show

The Glanbia Farm Show – Sponsored by glanbiaconnect.com – 4/11/2021

ICMSA President Pat McCormack spoke to Matt about the big issues of the week including the publication of the Government Climate Action plan, COP26 and live exports.

Thomas Ryan of Glanbia was on the phone to bring listeners up to date on future requirements and responsibilities for farmers particularly in regard to care of the environment. He spoke about a recent event which is not up and online on their Youtube channel. Thomas emphasised the importance of economic sustainability alongside social and environmental responsibilities. (This will be a regular ongoing feature on the Glanbia Farm Show).

Carlow/Kilkenny Farm Relief Service this week celebrated 40 years of the national organisation, and the retirement of Peter Byrne as national manager. Matt was on hand to record reminiscences from a range of the pioneering founders of the organisation in Kilkenny and Carlow including ninety-five year old Des Kehoe. Eric Driver and George Candler gave up to the minute accounts of the week’s livestock trade.
