The Road Safety Authority is warning motorists to take extra care today as Storm Babet makes landfall.
An Orange rainfall warning is in place for Waterford, Cork, and Kerry until 1 o’clock tomorrow afternoon.
A Status Yellow rain warning is also in place for the remainder of Munster, Kilkenny, and Wexford until tomorrow afternoon, with a similar alert for Connacht coming into effect at 12 o’clock this afternoon.
David Martin from the RSA has this advice:
“If you have to take a journey, just slow down. Allow a greater break in distance between yourself and the vehicles in front. And this is especially important for people who may be driving in dual carriageways or motorways where there’s an increased danger of aquaplaning.”
