Protesters are getting prepared to march against water charges in Carlow and Kilkenny this afternoon.

The “right 2 water” campaign is setting off on a walk from Kilkenny train station at 1:30 while Carlow’s starts at the Liberty tree at 2 o’clock.

Keith Gilligan is one of the organisers of Carlow’s protest and says he will be among some of the anti-austerity alliance speakers.

And in Kilkenny one of the organisers, Conor McLiam says they expect a huge crowd.

The route of the March has changed in Kilkenny. Participants are to gather at MacDonagh Junction and to proceed down to Rosin Street onto the Parade. There will be a stand on the parade.

Traffic restrictions will be in place to all roads going onto John’s street and the Parade during the March.

Traffic disruptions are also expected in and around Carlow Town centre. watermet
