A local Tidy Towns group says they are glad to be leading the way in Kilkenny by implementing a ban on election posters.
Tullahought village is the only one the county to sign up to a national campaign banning the posters for May’s local and European elections.
Two other villages in Carlow – Rathvilly and Leighlinbridge are also on board.
Mary Egan from Tullahought Tidy Towns says the posters just take away from the hard work that goes into keeping the village looking its best:
“The village just looks nice and then they’re all put up at different sizes and heights on the poles.
“They just don’t look well. And they will contribute to litter which is one of the main problems we have in Ireland – everywhere you go.”
