Title race blown wide open as Chelsea lose to Palace

The race for the Premierleague took an unexpected turn today, as relegation battlers Crystal Palace defeated league leaders Chelsea 1-0 at home.

Chelsea’s captain John Terry scored an own goal in the 52nd minute to rock his side’s chances of lifting the trophy, as Liverpool and Manchester City can overtake them with wins against Tottenham and Arsenal.

Elsewhere in the league today, Southampton beat Newcastle 4-0 at home thanks to goals from Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and a brace from Jay Rodriguez, while Swansea defeated the traveling Norwich 3-0 in what proved to be an easy victory.

Stoke beat Hull 1-0 with a Peter Odemwingie goa, while West Brom managed to throw away 2-0 and 3-2 leads as they drew 3-3 with fellow strugglers Cardiff.

In the early kick off, Manchester United romped home to a 4-1 victory over an Aston Villa despite falling behind to an early Ashley Westwood free-kick. Goals from Juan Mata, Javier Hernandez, and a brace from Wayne Rooney saw United complete a deserved comeback.
