There are temporary road closures in Kilkenny City this morning until 11:00am, to facilitate the Medieval Marathon.
Over 1,000 participants are taking part in this year’s event, which sees takes runners past some of the city’s most historic sites before heading out onto surrounding country roads and finishing at the Water Barracks in Kilkenny.
John Street Upper and Lower, John’s Bridge and John’s Quay, Bateman Quay and Rose Inn Street, Greensbridge Street, Vicar Street, and Common Hall Lane, Church Lane, Coach Road, Loretto View, and Butts Green are all affected.
Gardaí are advising motorists to expect intermittent traffic disruption around the city centre, to allow extra time for journeys, and to drive with additional caution throughout the morning.
