Tributes are beginning to flow for an Olympic Champion who spent time working in Carlow and Kilkenny.
1956 Melbourne gold medal winner Ronnie Delany has died at the age of 91.
The Olympic Federation of Ireland has expressed “deep sadness” at the passing of the sporting star who made his name on the college circuit in America before achieving international success for his home country.
The Wicklow native, who’d had a stint with the Army cadets and also sold vacuum cleaners in our locality when aged in his teens, inspired many in the sporting world and had as a friend for some time Carlow’s Dan Carbery.
