Two local athletes fall just short at World Junior Championships
There was disappointment for both local athletes at the World Junior Championships in Oregon last night.
Cliodhna Manning of Kilkenny City Harriers missed out on qualification for the semi finals of the 200 metres, despite running a personal best.
Her time of 24.15 seconds would have been good enough to see her qualify in 4 of the 7 heats.
Meanwhile Carlow athlete Marcus Lawler also failed to qualify for the semi finals of the 200 metres.
The Laurence O’Tooles clubman finished 4th in his heat.
Speaking after his race, Lawler was trying to pinpoint exactly what went wrong.
