Two of the country’s senior politicians are due in our locality today
Minister for Education Hildegarde Naughton is due to begin her visit in Carlow to open a parents room at St Joseph’s National School and she’ll also check out the work being undertaken at St Mary’s Academy CBS.
Then in Kilkenny, Minister Naughton will officially open the new Christian Brothers College which opened for its first school year at a purpose built facility on the Dunningstown Road before moving onto the Kilkenny City Vocational School.
While Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht and at the Department of Transport Jerry Buttimer is attending the Carlow Public Participation Network (PPN) spring community expo and networking event this afternoon.
There he’s expected to formally launch the Carlow Disabled Persons Organisation (DPO), a new group led by, and for, disabled people in the county.
