A journalist and friend of Veronica Guerin says the trauma of her murder remains as raw as it was this day 30 years ago.
Paul Williams told The KCLR Daily he saw his colleague dead in her describing the moment as one of shock, fear and disbelief.
Despite threats and violence in the months leading up to the killing, few believed it would actually happen.
He says Guerin’s murder marked a turning point for Ireland, shocking the nation and leading to major action against organised crime, including the establishment of the Criminal Assets Bureau, which remains a powerful part of her legacy.
