WALNUT AND TREACLE BREAD
Ingredients
350g/12oz wheatmeal
110g/4oz flour
1 tsp bread soda
110g/4oz butter
25g/1oz brown sugar
handful chopped walnuts
about 15 fl oz buttermilk
2 eggs lightly beaten
2 fl oz treacle
Method
Pre heat oven to 180C/160C fan-oven/Gas mark 4
Mix all the dry ingredients and airate well.
Lightly rub the butter into the dry ingredients.
Add all the liquid ingredients and mix well.
Place in a greased 2lb loaf tin and bake for approx 1 hr.
