Warnings issued for those taking to roads and water bodies of Carlow and Kilkenny this bank holiday weekend

As we head for the Bank Holiday weekend, caution’s being advised on a number of fronts.

With more vehicles due on our roads, Gardaí have more personnel on duty in a bid to curb the number of deaths – so far this year six people have died in crashes in Carlow with two in Kilkenny and two other local men dying in other counties.

While safety too is being urged for those taking to pools, rivers and nearby coastal waters.

One of the best known local swimming advocates Bagenalstown’s Mary Foster is advising that you stick to lifeguarded areas (find those here), stay within your depth, ensure you can turn onto your back when tired and wear your suncream.
