“We cannot allow this to continue” says Carlow councillor of council houses that appear vacant despite rent being paid

A Carlow councillor has raised concerns over council houses locally that appear to be vacant despite their tenants paying rent.

Jim Deane says some of the properties have been lying empty for more than two years and, given the housing crisis, he’d like to see them being lived in.

Local authority officials hands are tied as long as payments are covered.
