There will be adequate cover for all masses during the Catholic Easter celebrations later this month, according to the Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin, Bishop Denis Nulty.
The news comes following the remarks last week of Bishop of Waterford and Lismore Alphonsus Cullinan, who said that decisions would have to be made on the future structure of parish life, with regards closing churches and alternating mass venues.
Bishop Nulty said that his aims are not solely on making arrangements for his diocese in the immediate future, but also long-term, telling KCLR News; “I have absolutely no doubt about it across our parishes Easter will be very well covered, our priests and the parish teams do super work at making sure that there’s a great service at parish level, what i suppose we’re most interested in in Kildare and Leighlin is equipping ourselves into the future looking rather than looking at next Easter, let’s look at Easter five years time where we’ll be, let’s look at the longer gain and I suppose that’s what we’re particularly looking at with our process launch out into the deep ”
He adds; “In some ways it’s a conversation we’re having in every diocese at different levels at different stages, I have written to Kildare and Leighlin Diocese basically saying that we need to formulate and articulate a diocesan pastoral plan and we are now in the process of appointing a director of parish development, that post is advertised on our Kandle, KANDLE, website”.
