A yellow rain warning is in place across Kilkenny and Carlow this morning, with motorists advised to drive carefully in adverse conditions, due to poor visibility and localised flooding.
The warning is also in place for counties Waterford, Wexford, Wicklow, and Cork
Waterford will later be affected by an ORANGE rain warning from 11am until 6pm, with the county set to see intense rainfall over a relatively short period.
The weather conditions have forced the postponement of the family-focused ‘Cycles’ event in Carlow today.
The arts participation project cycle was due to set out from Ducketts Grove today around noon.
Carlow Arts Festival and Carlow Sports Partnership said the difficult decision was taken for safety reasons and on advice from the local Gardai as Met Eireann has forecast heavy rainfall, high winds and the potential for localised flooding from early on Sunday.
Anyone who has booked their place and registered online will receive a full refund in the coming days.
Meanwhile, organisers of this morning’s Alzheimer’s Annual Memory Walk at Oak Park have confirmed to KCLR News that their event will go ahead at 11am as planned.
