It’s set to get gusty later.
Carlow and Kilkenny have been hit with a wind warning which takes effect from midnight and runs to 6 o’clock tomorrow (Thurs) evening.
Met Éireann’s yellow notice forecasts strong bursts which could displace loose objects and leave debris on routes and potentially impacting driving conditions.
Such issues will be covered at today’s Safer Roads conference in county Kerry where Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly’s among experts set to discuss policies aimed at reducing road related crashes, fatalities and injuries.
He says; “I will be giving a presentation on how extreme weather can impact road safety and we’ve seen a lot of extreme weather in recent years and part of the issues often are how that impacts people, you know, commuting to and from school and work and just generally anybody going on the roads”.
