The days are getting longer from today.
It’s the Winter Solstice, and locally people gathered at Knockroe Passage Tomb near Ahenny this morning (Sunday) at 8:40am to catch a glimpse of one of the alignments.
The sunset alignment takes place later at 3:40pm, and if you’re going, make sure to allow extra time for the walk up and wear suitable footwear.
Meanwhile, hundreds of visitors turned up at the ancient passage tomb at Newgrange in County Meath; however, only 14 people got to witness the sunrise through the chamber.
