Witnesses sought following death of man in road incident in County Laois

A man’s died after being struck by a car in county Laois.

It happened at approximately 7o’clock last evening on Main Street in Abbeyleix.

The pedestrian aged in his seventies was taken to Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore where he was later pronounced dead.

Nobody else was injured in the incident which left the road closed for technical examination, it has since reopened.
