A young woman is fighting for her life in hospital after what is believed to be a violent assault in County Tipperary.
The woman, who is in her 20s, was airlifted to hospital after she was found with “catastrophic” head injuries at Birdhill shortly after 7:00 p.m. yesterday evening.
HSE paramedics and the Shannon-based Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter brought her to University Hospital Limerick, where she is said to be in a critical condition.
Gardaí have sealed off the area where the woman was found as part of a major investigation.
