After years of ongoing representations, the Council had given the green light to move forward with the engineering report required for the safe removal of the wall at the O’Loughlin Road railway bridge.
The site has long been considered hazardous for both motorists and pedestrians, with safety concerns escalating over the years.
Today, the engineering report and associated works officially began.
Leas Ceann Comhairle Deputy John McGuinness, who has been actively involved in pushing for these improvements, welcomed the move, stating that the work is a crucial step towards enhancing safety in the area and addressing the risks posed by the wall.
Local residents and commuters are hopeful that these long-awaited changes will reduce traffic dangers and improve the overall safety of this busy road.
