Work on farms in our locality has been severely impacted by the ongoing wet weather according to Carlow IFA’s Chairman.
Rains of recent months have saturated lands across both counties and could hamper the drilling of spring crops should the deluges continue.
Michael Purcell told KCLR News that the coming weeks will be telling; “You would be hoping that it would improve say next month, I know wet weather in January’s not too bad but like from then on, the Spring needs to be fine and you need to be able to get out doing the work that needs to be done, spreading slurry or spreading manure or sowing a corner or whatever, letting out stock, it needs to be fine but if it comes bad like it’s going to put pressure on feeding and it’s going to put pressure on slurry capacity and all that”.
