Theres no work happening on the site of the new bridge in Kilkenny this morning after a High court instruction yesterday.
The order to halt construction works at Greensbridge and the new footbridge was secured by local student and campaigner Christopher O’Keeffe from Freshford Road and will remain in force until next Wednesday.
The court heard the river is a special area of conservation and the only habitat in the world where you will find the hard water pearl mussel.
The Judge agreed to put a temporary stop to both construction projects on environmental grounds.
A statement from the local authority is expected this morning.
