Xtra-vision staff in Carlow & Kilkenny pack up after learning of closure

Staff in local Xtra-vision stores are packing up today after learning yesterday that their jobs are gone.

A liquidator was appointed and workers were told to close the doors yesterday as the company ceased trading.

A staff member in Carlow told KCLR earlier it had come out of the blue – they had known about the planned closure of 30 stores before Christmas but they were not one of them

8 people are employed at the Kennedy Avenue store in Carlow and about the same at Kilkennys High Street store – both of which also host HMV under the same roof.

They’re awaiting news on a redundancy package now.

Pamela, manager of the Kennedy Avenue store, will speak to KCLR on The Way It Is at 6pm.
