The young local man killed in a road incident on Saturday evening has been named.
14-year-old Joe Carthy was travelling on an e-scooter which was in collision with a car on the Tullaroan Road at Bonnettstown just before 6:30pm.
He was transferred to St Luke’s Hospital but passed away from his injuries.
There’s been an outpouring of grief both online where blue hearts lit up Facebook and in person with family and friends understood to have let off some balloons at the crash site last evening as they try to come to terms with their loss.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to Saturday night’s incident to come forward, in particular they’re keen to speak to anybody who moved along the Tullaroan Road between 6 & 6:30pm and who might have any form of footage from a dashcam etc.
