It’s finally been confirmed that Penneys will be the anchor tenant for a new seventy million euro shopping centre in Carlow.
Lexeme Properties Limited have made the announcement and the plan is to have ‘Carlow Central’ open for Christmas 2018.
The site of the new development incorporates the existing Penneys store together with additional adjoining lands on a six and a half acre site.
Jobs wise, the construction phase will see more than two hundred and twenty five jobs created with around eight hundred to be employed, full and part-time, when Carlow Central is up and running
When its finished the new shopping centre will have two thousand square feet of space for retail another ten thousand square feet for offices and six hundred and forty car spaces.
Penneys will be the anchor tenant but there are plans to bring a number of other big Irish and International retailers to the centre.
